THE DOSSIER OF S. OLA AJIMISAN, THE ILAJE-ETIKAN-BORN FISHERMAN-AUTHOR AND HIS NOVEL DICTIONARY OF ILAJE DIALECT.

S. Ola Ajimisan isn't just a fisherman of note, but also Etikan illustrious Sun recognized for his notable contributions to Literature and cultural heritage. 

With eleven (11) literary texts to his credit, Ajimisan's works often explore thematic thrusts related to Nigerian culture, politics and society. His writings also frequently foreground African identity and Yoruba-morphic heritage, employing African folklore and folkism in his work.

Some of his notable works include;

Poetry collections: "Forty Testaments for Our Dearest Drifting Dome", "Castle Built with Spittle", "Sweltering Labyrinth", "Dead End of Crossroads", "Where Else Do We Go From Here?", "Akatanigbo and the Atlantic Verses", and "Transgressive Rubrics"

Drama: "Verdicts of Money-muffled Gods" and "His HERcellency"

Children's literature: "Through Children's Spectacles"

S. Ola Ajimisan's latest drama, His HERcellency, explores power play in the African post-colonial landscape. The book is notable for its timely release, as it was written during a tumultuous period in Nigerian politics. The book's context, which includes the ordeals of Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, the current Governor of Ondo State, adds depth to the narrative. Ayedatiwa's experiences as a deputy governor facing impeachment proceedings in 2023 provide a real-life backdrop for the themes explored in the book.

Ajimisan's His HERcellency has been appraised as a thought-provoking commentary on the complexities of power and politics in Africa and given its rich use of diction, the book makes significant contribution to contemporary Nigerian literature.

Following His HERcellency, Ajimisan takes on an ambitious project, "The Dictionary of Ilaje Dialect"  through which he penned the linguistic nuances of Ilaje Dialect for posterity. The dictionary is bid for launching on June 14, 2025 at Civil Centre, Igbokoda, the Headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State. 

Aside his literary writings as mean to preserve, rejuvenate and propagate Ilaje cultural heritage, Ajimisan founded and chairs two Cultural/Research Centres - The Centre for the Propagation of Ilaje Cultural Heritage (CEPICH) and Centre for the Propagation of Etikan Traditional Heritage (CEPETH).

In 2020, he co-authored with Bababo Ikuemonisan a book titled, ETIKANOLOGY. This book explores the history of the Ilaje-Etikan and further demonstrated his commitment to preserving cultural heritage and historical documentation. 

For his contributions to cultural heritage, S. Ola Ajimisan has received notable recognitions. Specifically:

Ilaje Literary Man of the Year: He was named the Ilaje Literary Man of the Year in 2023, showcasing his exceptional literary achievements and impact.

Ilaje Cultural Ambassador: The Olikan of Ilaje-Etikan, the king of his kingdom, honored him as the Ilaje Cultural Ambassador, recognizing his efforts in promoting Ilaje culture and heritage.
