Beyond the Olikan's Sphere, His Sun☀️ Shines💥 - Bababo Ikuemonisan

At the crack of dawn today, I rose and the thought to write about ETIKANLAND came calling. I didn't know exactly where to start. This was because Etikan land has an enriched depth of history, culture and traditional heritage that have not only shaped its existence over  thousands of years - ago, but a colossal of history that continue to shape Etikanland and its people in the contemporary times.

The Ilaje-Etikan have an enviable body of traditional heritage that covers all facets of their existence, and they have consciously distinguished themselves from the crowd and carved a niche for themselves through robust intellectualism spear-headed by S. Ola Ajimisan, and today, they are everywhere on the cyberspace and have become topic of intellectual discourse at various fora, seminars and international conferences.

S. Ola Ajimisan, one of the many illustrious sun of the Olikan, continue to make a significant mark in the world of academia and cultural representation through his prolific scholarly work and poetry. With a notable presence in a variety of national and international journals, his contributions have not only enriched scholarly discourse but also elevated the visibility of Etikan's cultural heritage on a global scale.

Prior to this time, the Ilaje-Etikan didn't actually live in obscurity. Of course, they had highly ritualistic yet attractive traditions and rich past. However, nothing was heard about them on the cyberspace and intellectual arenas. They were confined to their geographical space. But everything changed with one man, S. Ola Ajimisan, who took upon himself the task of interrogating the rich library of traditional knowledge, speaking to every living encyclopedia in Etikanland; documenting history, folkloric traditions, and enriching the lives, beginning with the founding of Centre for the Propagation of Etikan Traditional Heritage (CEPETH) - an indigenous research centre.

Interestingly, S. Ola Ajimisan didn't embark on this journey all by himself. He sort and got the nod of the elders and Sun of the soil and whoops! Etikanland is a global intellectual fascination. A rich historical captivation.

The people of Etikan aren't just stoping at telling the world about the voices of their ancestors, their legendary exploits in time past or their enriched traditional heritage, arts and music on the pages of history books and at intellectual conferences alone. They have also decided to immerse the world with a very powerful festival representation embellished with enriched conviviality as intellectual approach to enable the world better understand and appreciate their history and traditional heritage in the culture of the new world order.

As one of the earlier people to walk the earth, the Ilaje-Etikan are heralding an era of historical and cultural intellectualism that finds lucid expression in Kierkegaard's witty nugget, that "Life must be lived forward, but it must be understood backwards".

The idea of looking back to move forward is indeed profound, as it enables us to comprehend our roots and draw inspiration for the future. The celebration of cultural festivals not only preserves traditions but it also serves as a conduit for passing down knowledge and values to future generations.

Verily, every Sun💥 of Etikan will converge at Etikan to celebrate the 2023 Etikan Day Festival. This promises not only to be a convergence of Kins and kiths of the Ogbulu Ogbulu, but a remarkable event that will further foster a sense of unity and pride among the descendants of the Olikan.

The 2023 Etikan Festival also represents an opportunity to showcase Etikan rich Afro-cultural heritage to a global audience, contributing to the broader appreciation and understanding of diverse traditions in the globalsphere.

Join us at this year's Etikan Festival. It's promises to be superb with a new Olikan on the throne.

Bababo Ikuemonisan.

Deputy Director,

Centre for the Propagation of Etikan Traditional Heritage (CEPETH)
